The Seagate Exos X16 is a 16TB enterprise hard drive designed for sustained 24/7 operation. It uses conventional magnetic recording (CMR) rather than shingled recording, which keeps rewrite performance predictable in RAID and NAS workloads.

With a 7200 RPM spindle, 256MB cache and a helium-sealed enclosure, the drive targets dense multi-bay enclosures where power per terabyte and vibration tolerance matter. Typical deployments include data-centre bulk storage, backup targets and NAS arrays.
