Selection guide

Three checks before you compare prices

These decide whether a drive actually works in your chassis. Price comes after.

By interface

A SAS backplane accepts SATA drives; a SATA backplane never accepts SAS. The same capacity point ships as separate SATA and SAS SKUs with different part-number suffixes.

Confirm the host interface from the server or array manual first — an interface mismatch cannot be fixed in firmware.

By condition

New, new-pull and refurbished drives are quoted separately and behave differently in RAID rebuilds. For refurbished stock, ask for the test report per serial number — a full surface scan plus SMART dump — not a batch-level claim.

We state the exact condition on the quotation, so the price you compare is for the condition you actually receive.

By firmware compatibility

NetApp, Dell EMC and HPE arrays check drive firmware and will reject or flag non-OEM disks, even when the base part number matches.

If the drives go into a branded array, send us the array model — we match the OEM firmware revision, not just the base model.

FAQ

Common questions on Enterprise HDD

Is this drive SMR or CMR — and does it matter for my use case?

It matters a lot. CMR drives handle random writes and RAID rebuilds predictably; SMR drives are only suitable for sequential, archive-style workloads. We state the recording technology for each part number before quoting, so there is no surprise after delivery.

Will a non-OEM firmware drive work in my NetApp, Dell EMC or HPE array?

Usually not without warnings. These arrays validate drive firmware and can reject the disk or raise persistent alerts when the firmware is not their OEM revision. Send us the array model and we match drives with the correct OEM firmware.

Do refurbished drives come with test reports?

Yes. Refurbished stock ships with a per-serial test report: full surface scan and SMART dump, run after cleaning and before packing. New, new-pull and refurbished conditions are always quoted as separate lines.

What is the minimum order quantity?

There is no fixed MOQ for most models — single-digit quantities are fine for evaluation or a one-off replacement. Pricing improves at volume, and mixed part numbers can ship in one consignment to save freight.

Need a part number that is not listed?

Send the model, quantity and destination country — we confirm stock, condition and lead time within one business day.
